Dudes, I don't know HOW we missed this, but apparently Nicki Minaj celebrated the release of her sophomore album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded over the weekend wearing... this. We're getting serious bondage vibes with that giant gold and patent leather body harness completely encapsulating her upper body paired with a totally sheer white mesh shirt (at least she wore a bra underneath, unlike *cough* Rihanna *cough*) and high-waisted undies. Typically we refer to barely-there shorts as shunderwear, but these are definitely just underwear—there's no shorts a-happenin' here, friends. She finished the look with some illusion striped garter tights, giant cocktail rings, and long blonde hair. We're glad to see Barbs doing something different than her stuffed animal steez (see: Nicki's pink furry bear hoodie and teddy bear wedges), but dang, she's really gone to the dark side with this ensemble.
It's funny because we're totally into the harness trend, but the way Nicki worked it here is just a BIT over the top for our taste. Remember the Herve Leger by Max Azria NYFW fall 2012 show? It featured one bold leather harnesses outfit after another, but they chose to put it over tastefully dainty—but not cutesy—dresses, and we love that. If Nicki's going to go for such a bold chest piece, she should've kept the rest of her ensemble more low key. But, hey, that's just what WE would do.
